A pilgrimage to Monet's garden

"There is no other garden in the world where you can stand exactly where the paintings were made."— On Giverny

Why Giverny matters

Claude Monet lived in Giverny from 1883 until his death in 1926. The pink-walled house, the Clos Normand flower garden, and the famous Japanese-style water garden with the green bridge are exactly as Monet shaped them. Standing at the Japanese bridge, you see the precise composition of the water lily paintings now hanging in the Musee d'Orsay and the Orangerie. Few cultural pilgrimages are so directly rewarded.

Why public transport struggles with Giverny

Giverny has no train station. The nearest is Vernon (an SNCF train from Paris Saint-Lazare, around 50 minutes), followed by a shuttle bus (10 minutes when running, much longer in low season) or a 6-kilometre walk. The total one-way journey is rarely under 2 hours, and the return bus schedules are unforgiving - many visitors miss connections and lose much of their visit time.

Why a private transfer changes the experience

Door-to-garden in 75 minutes from central Paris. The driver waits at Giverny for the duration of your visit - typically 2 to 3 hours. You leave when you want, not when the bus is scheduled. The route through Normandy is also genuinely beautiful - small villages, river valleys, the Norman countryside that inspired the Impressionists.

Best months to visit

Giverny is open from late March to early November. May and June are peak - the wisteria and irises bloom. August and September are the water lily season. Late October offers fewer crowds and autumn colours. The garden is closed in winter. Our drivers can advise on current peak times.
