The masterpiece of the Sun King

"Versailles is the only French monument that genuinely overwhelms - and the only one that requires sensible logistics to reach."— On visiting Versailles

Why Versailles requires real planning

The Chateau de Versailles attracts over 10 million visitors a year - second only to the Louvre. Public transport (RER C from Paris) takes 45-60 minutes one way, includes a transfer at Champ-de-Mars or Invalides, and ends with a 10-minute walk from Versailles-Chateau station to the palace gates. Add waiting for the train, queueing for tickets, and the queue for the security check, and a half-day visit becomes a full day.

Why our transfer changes the day

We pick you up at your Paris hotel (or CDG/Orly arrivals if you're flying in to Versailles first) and drop you 100 metres from the Royal Gate. After your visit, we're waiting at the same point, ready to drive you back. The 45-minute drive each way replaces 90 minutes of public transport - and you're rested, not exhausted, when you arrive at the palace.

Standard versus full-day service

Our standard Versailles transfer (110 EUR from Paris) is a half-day service: round-trip transfer with the driver waiting at Versailles for up to 4 hours. Most visitors find this comfortable - 2 hours in the palace, 1 hour in the gardens, 1 hour buffer. The full-day service (250 EUR) allows up to 8 hours, ideal for visiting the Trianon palaces and Marie Antoinette's Hameau in addition to the main chateau.

Combined transfers

Many travellers combine Versailles with an airport pickup. Land at CDG in the morning, visit Versailles, drive to your Paris hotel in the evening - all with the same chauffeur, all included in the day's pricing. This avoids the public-transport struggle entirely on the most demanding travel day of the trip.

FAQ

Common questions

From central Paris, 35 to 55 minutes depending on traffic. From CDG, 60 to 80 minutes. From Orly, 30 to 45 minutes (Orly is on the same southern side as Versailles).
No - Versailles entrance tickets are paid separately. We strongly recommend pre-booking online (21 EUR for the main chateau, 27 EUR for combined chateau + Trianon) to skip the long ticket queue.
Yes - the driver waits at a designated parking area near the chateau for the duration of your visit. There is no separate waiting charge for the standard half-day or full-day services.
Mornings are quieter - the palace opens at 09:00 and queues form by 10:30. Afternoons are busier but allow more time for the gardens. Tuesdays are closed; weekends are busiest.
Yes - we can include a stop at any address. Popular additions: lunch in Versailles town, a quick view of Saint-Cyr or the Etoile de Sevres on the route, or a stop at Auteuil races.
Yes, with planning. The palace itself involves significant walking but is wheelchair-accessible. The gardens are vast - for elderly visitors we recommend the small train (8 EUR) that loops the main sites.

Skip the RER. See Versailles properly.

Private door-to-chateau transfer. Driver waits. Fixed price. Maximum palace, minimum logistics.
