The District

The shopping and business engine room

"The 9th holds the most-visited shopping street in Europe - and the worst Christmas traffic in Paris."— On serving the Haussmann district

Why the 9th matters

The 9th arrondissement is where Haussmann's Paris is at its most concentrated: wide boulevards, uniform stone facades, the Opera Garnier as the visual anchor. It contains the two largest department stores in continental Europe (Galeries Lafayette and Printemps), the headquarters of major French corporations, and the historic centre of the financial district near the Bourse. International business travellers and shoppers fill the area year-round.

Hotels suited to business and shopping

InterContinental Le Grand (overlooking the Opera), Hotel Scribe, Hotel Edouard 7, Kimpton St Honore, Maison Albar Le Pont-Neuf - these are the addresses for corporate travel and serious shopping trips. We know the discreet arrival routes that avoid Boulevard Haussmann during peak hours.

The holiday season problem

From mid-November to early January, Boulevard Haussmann becomes nearly impassable on weekends - the department stores' famous Christmas windows draw enormous crowds, and the surrounding streets see significant congestion. A driver who works the district can route via Rue La Fayette, Rue Saint-Lazare, or Rue de Provence to bypass the worst of it.

Quick access to other Paris districts

From the 9th you can walk to Montmartre (15 minutes uphill via Rue des Martyrs), the 1st (10 minutes via Rue de la Paix), or the Marais (20 minutes via Rue Reaumur). For combined shopping and sightseeing trips, the 9th is strategically positioned.

FAQ

Common questions

Normally 30 to 50 minutes - the 9th is one of the closest central districts to CDG. Outside rush hour, transfers can be as quick as 28 minutes.
Yes - both are flagship Opera-district hotels and our drivers know their arrival points. The InterContinental's main entrance faces the Opera Garnier; the Scribe sits across the street.
Excellent - the district is dense with corporate hotels, meeting venues, and is centrally positioned for moving across Paris. Major business districts (La Defense, the 1st, the 8th) are all 15-25 minutes away. We provide hourly chauffeur extensions for business trips.
Of course - our service operates 24/7. Late arrivals to the 9th are common (last flights from North America landing 22:00-23:00) and we have drivers available.
Yes - stopping on Boulevard Haussmann itself is strictly limited. For shopping drop-offs we use Rue de Provence (behind the store) or Rue de la Chaussee-d'Antin (in front).
Yes - the northern edge of the 9th meets the southern edge of Montmartre. You can walk from the upper 9th (Rue des Martyrs) to Place des Abbesses in 15 minutes - uphill but rewarding.
