Airport Transfer - Ile de la Cite & Ile Saint-Louis

Private Transfer to the Notre-Dame

The Ile de la Cite, Ile Saint-Louis, and the streets around Notre-Dame draw millions of visitors a year. The traffic restrictions to match are intense - strict drop-off zones, pedestrianised quays, vehicle limits over the bridges. Our drivers know exactly which Pont to take to reach your hotel, where stopping is legal, and how to handle the famously hard-to-reach Ile Saint-Louis where many taxis refuse to go.

Arriving at the two islands

"The Ile Saint-Louis has 3,000 residents, 800 years of history, and exactly four ways to reach it by car. We know all four."— On serving the islands

Why the two islands are unique

Notre-Dame sits on the Ile de la Cite - the geographical and historical centre of Paris. Just east, connected by a single footbridge, is the smaller Ile Saint-Louis, a perfectly preserved 17th-century quarter that feels like a village within the city. Both are surrounded by the Seine and accessible only by a handful of bridges, several of which are reserved for buses or restricted at peak times.

The 2019 fire and 2024 reopening

Notre-Dame de Paris partially burned in April 2019. After a five-year restoration, the cathedral reopened in December 2024 - the structural restoration was a feat of French craftsmanship, the spire rebuilt, the roof timbers re-cut from medieval techniques. The cathedral is once again the most visited monument in Paris (free entry, timed tickets recommended). The streets around it remain controlled - vehicles can drop near Parvis Notre-Dame but not enter it.

Hotels on the Ile Saint-Louis

Staying on the Ile Saint-Louis is a Paris experience unlike any other. Hotel des Deux-Iles, Hotel de Lutece, Hotel Saint-Louis en l'Isle - small, atmospheric, in 17th-century buildings. Many drivers refuse the island because of its tight one-way system and the difficulty of stopping. We do it daily. Tell us your hotel name and we know the entrance.

Quick access to the Left and Right Banks

From either island, the rest of central Paris is within 5-10 minutes' walk. The Latin Quarter sits just south across the Pont au Double; the Marais is just north across the Pont Saint-Louis and Pont Marie. For a first-time visitor wanting central access without choosing one side of the river, the islands are unbeatable.

FAQ

Common questions

Normally 35 to 55 minutes. The islands sit in the geographic centre of Paris, so the journey from CDG (north of the city) is direct and reasonably fast in normal traffic.
Yes - we know the island's tight one-way system and the entrances to all its hotels. We can drop directly outside Hotel des Deux-Iles, Hotel de Lutece, and Hotel Saint-Louis en l'Isle. Some addresses on the island require dropping at the nearest legal stop (max 50 metres away).
Yes - Notre-Dame de Paris reopened in December 2024 after a five-year restoration. Entry is free; advance booking is strongly recommended due to high visitor numbers during the reopening period.
Excellent for a centrally-located first stay. You can walk to the Marais, the Latin Quarter, the Louvre, Saint-Germain, and Pompidou in under 15 minutes from either island. The atmosphere is also more genuinely Parisian than the heavily touristed central districts.
Yes. Our V-Class van is comfortable on the islands' main streets, and we know which side streets to use to get closer to specific hotels. For 4-7 passengers with significant luggage, the V-Class is the right choice.
No - they are two separate islands connected by the small Pont Saint-Louis (pedestrian only). The Ile de la Cite is larger and contains Notre-Dame, the Conciergerie, Sainte-Chapelle. The Ile Saint-Louis is smaller, residential, and contains the boutique hotels and Berthillon ice cream.
